October Half Term in Morocco’s Spiritual Capital, Fez.

Sometimes booking with a travel agent is cheaper. Sometimes booking your own holiday is, but one thing is for sure. Booking your own holiday does give you a lot more flexibility & control of your own holiday. But it also comes with some risks too.

This October Half Term self-catering deal comes in at under £150pp based on a family of four including transfers, flights & accommodation. Read on to see how you can package this up yourself.

STEP ONE : Flights £68 return, London Stansted to Fez. October Half term dates for some parts of the country including Leicester. Found via Skyscanner.

STEP TWO: Book a traditional Riad with Airbnb for £28 per night for a family of four & get £25 off your first stay by signing up with this link>

Or book a stay in a hotel. Use my TripAdvisor hack to get the best price. Searching with TripAdvisor has often given me a better deal than going direct to booking sites like ExpediaLoveholidays or Hotels.com. Enter my name (Sharmeen Suleman ) as a discount code on Loveholidays for an extra £20 off your booking.

STEP THREE : Remember that booking your own holiday will leave you with out ATOL protection. Ensure that your travel insurance covers you for all eventualities, since many don’t cover flight cancellations or strikes as standard.

STEP FOUR : Then remember to add on the “extras” like airport transfersairport parking & allow for food expenses.

This list I created will help you plan out your holiday & keep to budget. It’s FREE to download. I only ask that you share it with credit please.holiday.planningDownload

STEP FIVE : Plan what you’re going to do when you reach Fez. Some ideas include using a guided tour of the old town (Medina) where you’ll see the oldest university in the World, founded by a woman. A day trip to the Blue Pearl, Chefchaouen, for something extra special. Or take a day trip to visit Moulay Idriss both spiritual & magical as you drive up there, followed by a visit to the Roman Ruins of Volubilis & then onto the historic city of Meknes.

And when you get tired of soaking up the culture, why not head to the Borj Mall with it’s kids’ play area, fast food court with McDonalds & Pizza Hut, as well as lots of great shops too. Like LC Waikiki, boutique shops & well known UK brands too, like the Body Shop. Take a walk from the Mall, into the newer part of town. Where you’ll find lots of places to eat & cute electric cars which the kids will love zipping around in.
